Please help.

I just got my Exskelibur I. I saw the torx wrench with the knife, so that I naturally tried to disassembly and clean it.
The Pivot screw got loose but not come off. Now I can not re-tighten it either, as one side of the pivot does not have a torx groove.
Do I need to make a special tool to hold the pivot screw?

I managed to unscrew and re-tighten it by pushing the pivot against a rubber band very hard.
I don't think I will ever disassemble this knife......

Miso, I am sorry to hear about your difficulties. If you still have any problems, please contact Jann directly.

Thank you for the reply.
Do you guys use locktite on the pivot?
I heated up just in case, but still it was quite tight.
I think it was just overtighten.

Come to think of it, I sent an e-mail to ask for a replacement pivot screw and have not received any reply.
How can I contact Jann?
Please let me know.

I love the Exskelibur series. But I think you are very brave to take one apart.

None of the three Decade Exskeliburs I got included a pivot tool that fit the Decades. They only fit the earlier Boker Exskelibur.

That's a problem when the blade arrives badly off-centered and there's no way to adjust it.

I contacted Boker USA by phone and email but never received any response.

As a result, I returned one of my Decades and will probably sell or gift a second, keeping only the one with the blade that isn't off-center.

flash900,

The new Ti scale Exskelibur has a torx screw on the pivot at least on the presentation side.
So naturally, I thought I could take it apart.
At the end, my conclusion was it was due to an overtighted screw to compensate for the misalignment of the pivot assembly.
One I assembled it properly, it was just easy to disassemle and reassemble it without holding the pivot pin with a special tool.

I don't think they would do it, as disassembing their knives would void the warranty.
Indeed, I was surprised to see a torx wrench included in the box.

As long as Boker continues to use proprietary pivots they will have to include a tool -- pivots will eventually need adjusting.

But it makes no sense to include the wrong tool!

Flash900, you are absolutely correct. In the beginning, we have had a special pivot screw and we delivered a special tool with it. Then we changed, the current batch, to torx screws and of course we want a torx tool coming with it. It really does not make sense putting the wrong tool to it!

Jann from Boker USA should have both tools, the one for the special pivot screw and the torx tool

Thanks.

The Decade version of the Exskeliburs has a proprietary pivot that looks like the original Exskelibur but they are different sizes.

Are you saying that Jann will have whatever tool fits the Decade Exskeliburs?

Are you saying that the new Titanium Exskelibur II uses a torx tool?

Thanks.

Thanks -- I'll contact Jann for the proper tool for my Exskelibur II Decade.

Speaking of the Exskelibur II, why doesn't the new Titanium version of the II have jimping on the blade like the older versions of the II and the larger version of the new Ti model do?

The Exskeliburs are front-flippers -- makes no sense not to have jimping on one of them.

I emailed Boker for a pivot tool for my Boker Decade Edition Exskelibur II since the blade is off center.

I need a whole new pivot set up for my decade edition Exskelibur 1 . The blade went off center after I flipped it a few times and the pivot went completely loose and now I can't tighten it up at all . Seems like the threads are stripped or the pivot needs to be longer to catch . Love the knife but hate the quality issues . This knife is a perfect EDC if I could actually use it .

Does anyone know the exact specs on the pivot for the Exskelibur 1 . I'm thinking of just up grading with a new torx style pivot .

I have the new Ti scale Exskelibur. What kind of info would you like to get?

Dude, I think Boker owes you a new knife -- one that works.
