Help find a knife for my husband PLEASE!!!

After the help here and much searching online, I found the knife his grandfather had - we believe it to be a Western Boulder #445. So, I suppose I'm looking for something like that. Doesn't have to be that brand, but something similar. He's really attached to the memories of that knife, but I'm sure he'd enjoy something else as well.

My advice would be to go over to the biggest, most popular e-auction site* you can think of right away, and search for "VINTAGE WESTERN BOULDER USA #445 POCKET KNIFE."

By the way, that is a sweet looking little knife.

I just searched "Western Boulder #445" on that auction site and got a couple of hits. Here's one of the seller's photos:

Here's a photo from another seller. A really nice knife! If only I had some money in my knife budget....:)

Well if we can suggest something outside of Case, I would propose this gem. The perfect stockman pattern IMO. Made by Queen about 5 years ago. Still find them every once in a while, but extremely well put together.

That's the knife. There are a couple on that auction site. May check them out. Thanks for looking.

That's beautiful. Can you tell me what model Queen it is?

Here's an outsider that you may like to consider.

GEC's pattern 33 seems set to be offered as a 3 blade in Whittler form. It will be compact just over 3" and might have a Turkish Clip Master, might be worth waiting a week or two to see?

Regards, Will

Good to know. Thanks. I will certainly take a look.

Its actually a Robeson Mastercraft 4 inch stockman, made by Queen. You can still find a few on (non BF Dealer reference removed).

Edit: Ooops! :o

That may be one of the best looking blade combo's I have seen! That hybrid clip point/spey smaller blade is stellar!

All About Pocket Knives has a few colors! Must Resist!

To the Original poster, I would buy a the smaller GEC (Tideoute, Northfield, stockman!).

Either large or small, they are fantastic looking to my eye! (they make a Stockman with the thinner turkish clip in the large "cigar pattern" which is my favorite). Larger than you are looking for, but really special! They also make a Cattle Barron (with 4 blades).

Then there is the medium stockman also by GEC.

Try Collectorknives.net

He is a supporting dealer here, and I have bought 10+ knives from him with great success!!!!!

I happen to have a case stockman. In place of the spey blade it has a punch/awl.

You have come to the right place for advice! You will wish you had not, though! It will end up costing you money!!!!!!!!!

Good luck finding the "perfect" knife for your husband!

The collecting guide I often refer to, lists a 'Baby Premium Stock' knife from Case (pattern #6327SHSP) at 2-3/4" closed length, with rounded bolsters. Vintages from 1957 into the 1980s. The published pic of the knife (1940-64 'XX era' vintage) in the guide shows a very narrowish clip blade which might approximate the 'Turkish clip' mentioned earlier. This particular pattern has a small spey instead of the pen (the 'SHSP' in the pattern# is a reference to the sheepsfoot + spey config, I believe). There might be a 6327 also (minus the 'SHSP' suffix), perhaps without the spey and instead a pen. Usually the suffixes to the pattern numbers, such as 'SHSP' represent a config variation/departure from an established pattern. My particular book doesn't list it, however. There do seem to be examples turning up in web searches, of a 6327 with clip, sheepsfoot and pen.

Thanks. This is quite addictive. Every time I look on this forum for any reason I see one more thing he needs. Whew. It's overwhelming in a great way. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for that information. I appreciate the help and your the information.

The Case 6318PU is a very handy knife, it carries very well in the pocket.
The clip & sheepsfoot blades are CV & the punch blade is SS.
