Help find AFCK replacement

Answering to everyone inquiring about Shirogorov's knives.
I will contact him at the knife show (Dec, 6th)
Afaik. he's not very happy making AFCK copy, he'd rather make and sell his own models.
He made two batches for local knife forum members and probably I can sweet talk him into making some more. also I'll find out about pricing. It depends on materials, too - he can make scales of ebony or other wood or CF.

I sold mine- regrettably- Sigh! The only form-factor comparable is actually the Al Mar Shrike. The Spyderco Military in D2 is a 'materially' comparable one but otherwise not comparable as the blade geometry and usage dynamics are different. STUPID of Benchmade to discontinue it!!!! Grrrr. I was using mine hapily till it shot up in value. Now I use a SOG Twitch XL as an EDC. Nice, but it's no AFCK 806D2.

Yep. The BM 710D2 is a fine knife. It feels more like a conventiona knife than the 806. The blade is virtually the same length but the handle is shorter than the 806's handle.
AFAIK, D2 is a type of tool steel. I don't think of it as stainless.

Something totally subliminal about this knife's design. As a designer and curator of objects, I know it will be an enduring classic. The blade grinds are perfect for certain tasks, the downward cant of the drop point, the exact curve of the cutting edge, how the blade sweeps into an S with the grip. Not to mention how flat it sits in a pocket and how secure it feels in one's hand. I think I'll go and cry for selling mine.

Which Dec 6th knife show are you referring to? Depending on where it is I may be able to get there.

It would be great to have a chance to handle Shirogorov's other knives. They may be even a better fit for some hands than his 806.

Well, the tool steel requirement will be difficult to satisfy. But how about going with the original design: A Spyderco Police.

Not really the same at all. I mean, YES, the Spyderco Police was indeed the inspiration, but the AFCK806D2 is much superior for many tasks at which the police is less than capable- such as everyday tasks unrelated to tactical ops. That's actually why I bought it to begin with. I will say this- we just received an Al Mar Skrike that has much of the AFCK DNA, less the D2 Steel and it's a much more delicate point. Not suitable for tactical ops but JUST RIGHT for everyday non-lever inclined tasks:)
One of my latest tests for an EDC is, how does it fare in the kitchen, Campsite or PicNic? Most bushcraft, tactical and 'tool' knives are poor at food prep. The AFCK was really pretty good at that.
