I so far can not seem to find flat stock of W2, 1050, 1060 that is 3 1/2" wide x 1/4" thick with a min of 18" in length which will go on a CNC machine...

then flat stock with a min of 3/16"thick x 1"wide to 1/4"thick to 2 1/2" wide again in W2, 1050, 1060

I called a lot of places within the last 2 days with Cincinnati Tool Steel and Ameralloy being the last 2 that I can remember the company names of...

Any help out there?

nobody at all?

Has everyone stopped using W-2, 1050 and 1060 here? If 1050, 1060 are no longer available is the next option 1075/80

Nope....W2 would be much more popular if it was readily available. Done Hanson found a big batch of round bar and sold a lot of it to smiths, myself included. Great stuff, but hard to find.

I use W2 almost exclusively but it's no longer being made. The steels you listed are hard to find and I've never seen bar stock that wide in these steels.

Call Admiral Steel and ask if they can shear to the size you want. They wont have W2 but may have the others.

Thanks for the help W-2 found in the sizes I was looking for:thumbup:

Where did you manage to find it?

4 places so far for the W-2 ... then will work on the 1050 1060

with order #1 coming in from knifekits.com of the stock they carry ... after the others get here and you want to know I post them up

Thanks AcridSaint

If you get desperate for W2 I believe Nicholson files are made of the stuff. Im making a kididashi right now that is very nice out of one.
