Hi

What knife has the thinnest flat blade out there?
I am looking for the best cutter slicer out there for my pocket everyday. opinel has a nice thin blade but i dislike the lock and the handle. spyderco centofante 3 would have been perfect but I hate all nonflat blades.

Are there any other choices.

Thanks

The ZDP189 Spyderco Calypso Jr. seems to get exceptional praise for it's slicing ability. Might be worth a look.

Agreed about the Spyderco Calypso, Jr. ZDP 189. But, DO take a look at the Buck/Mayo TNT; it is AWESOME also for EDC.

For a smaller blade, take a look at Fallkniven U2. Thin flatground blade with a very thin edge. Superb steel. Great cutter.

Regards Jan

The Calypso Jr. already mentioned is a very flat blade. Not quite as thin as the Centofante 4 but certainly thin enough to slice quite well. I've used mine in ZDP189 a little but mostly it is a safe queen. The one that has seen more use is the gray one in VG10.

The Spyderco Catcherman is the thinnest blade I know of in a flat grind blade.
The ALMar Nomad is a flat grind and very very nice. This knife is so nice that when I had one in my shop for a new pocket clip in tip up carry I put it on my want list for 06.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned SAK's. Very thin flat ground blades and relatively inexpensive.

Doukdouk if you could find one, but this knife has no lock.
More or less, same quality blade than opinel.

Opinel is about as thin and flat as you can easily find in a folder. Swiss Army Knives run a close second.

In a fixed blade, Frosts Moras are well under 1/10" of an inch.

All three of these are quite inexpensive as well.

I have a WH 15, thin blade, scary sharp zdp. I do recommand this knife. Outcut my BM 690 by far.

If you really want to experience the highest performance for light cutting, get a decent flat ground blade on thin stock and get Tom Krein to hollow grind the edge as thin as he can take it. Then sharpen the blade flat to the stone producing an edge bevel of ~5 degrees per side.
