help finding nice wood handle knife <$150

Look at some Boker fixed and folders, they have some very nice pieces in your price range, that are well made, and very nice to look at, everyone seems to be Benchmade transfixed on this forum, but check out the Boker pieces. :)

Well, i finally bought a knife and it doesn't even have a wood handle! just fell in love with a gene ingram custom knife in D2 and elk stag!

you can see it on the for sale by knifemaker fixed blade forum

i may order a cocobolo from him in the future

thanks again for all your input :)

The best way of looking at wood on knife handles is to see them actually in real-life, in front of you -

Photos do help of course - but may not reveal such things as the other side's scale, the proportions of the knife - some handles are just too thick or thin.... wood also can change under different light - direction, color etc.

It is also very useful to look at wood samples - knife shows often have knife material suppliers who have a large array of wood scale blanks.

some useful sites with wood sample gallery pages -
it may be even worth getting some samples just to have......

Here's the cocobolo handle of a Hendrix #11 (I took this image for another post about handle comfort)

The cocobolo is subtle - but careful viewing reveals it has very nice marbling/tiger-striping figures in the wood - the other side is equally nice.
