Help finding small fixed blade knife

Check out Duck Childress small knives, he would work with you to creat something nice, going to be more than your price, but worth it. Also, check out the exchange for his, they come up for sale occasionally. There is one now up for sale.

I have been playing with a Bark River Lil Carver (like the Lil Creek, but with a Wharncliff-style blade) for 2 weeks now for edc- and so far I really like it.

It's 3V steel, and once you grind down their micro-bevel they put on it, it gets and stays really sharp for a good bit of time.

I haven't done too much with it yet, but compared to my only other small Bark River (Bravo Micro), this is actually way usable and practical. Easy to control with a 3-finger grip. It goes about $120 new, so save up your allowance a bit, or try to find it used, but the blade is 2.65" and I think 5.5" OAL, so it is small and pocket-able.

This is the only small fixed blade I have enjoyed carrying in my pocket so far. If you are interested in neck knives- I can say the Bravo Necker 1 and 2 are pretty good as well.

I'd have a look at the Enzo Necker. It comes in a few different grinds and scale materials. A Wilder Necker from one of the great makers here on this forum could also be a very nice option if there are still some available or if you can wait for the next batch.

Well, I decided to give esee a second chance and ordered the izula. Thank you for everyone's input and advice!

Hi all, I am in need of some assistance. I have been looking for a small fixed blade knife for edc use. There are some options out there that I am aware of, but am still looking for that perfect knife. What I am looking for in such a knife is as follows.

-Blade length under 3in (IMPORTANT)
-Handle length around 3.5in
-no "super steels"
-Flat, scandi, sabre, convex, and hollow grinds are all good
-Needs to be drop point, spear point, or wharncliffe
-handle material does not matter, skeletonized is ok
-price less than $75.00 usd
-Sheath options do not matter

Some knives that I have caught my eye would be the Esee Izula, the TM Hunt Magua, Michael Morris Pee Wee, Koster Scout, Benchmade Activator. I understand that the Esee Izula is the only knife listed in that price range, but it would not be my first pick if given the choice. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Try the Kershaw Skinner 1080. It comes with Black Izula but has very good stainless steel. It is about $30, made in USA, and is a very good knife.

Don't get me wrong, if the bk14 or bk24 had a blade length of under 3 inches (bk24 is still 3.25), It would be in the mail. However, it would be illegal for me to carry in my area. I will have to take a closer look at the bk13, but the handle seems a bit short for my liking. In terms of the Izula, Im just a bit hesitant because i got a sloppily done 4.

Just a thought...if you like a knife that has a "3-inch blade length" that much why not just buy it and take a 32nd or 1/16th off the tip in some nicely creative way? Either do it yourself with a stone or pay a pro $5 to swipe it real quick.....

Mora 2/0?

I have one I wear around my neck when out of the city but don't need a larger knife. I prefer a fixed blade when concealment is not a requirement. The Mora 2/0 fits the bill when I don't need a heavier duty knife. It's especially handy when I am in the boat.

I've had to do this to several folders and it's quite aggravating to discover that the '3" blade' you ordered is in fact quite a bit longer (and illegal to carry in my locale).

Knocking 1/4" off the BK-11/14/24 would make it quite odd.

I was a big fan of the BRKT Bumblebee, but think it's out of production.
This exact category is why I started making knives: 3" limit, need a 'full' handle for control, didn't want to spend $75+ on something that was made overseas or didn't fit the bill. Now I make several models like that, but of course they cost twice as much. :o

Fixed Kershaw Skyline. Discontinued now but not too hard to find for well under your limit. The sheath ain't nothin to write home about but the knife serves very well. My favorite small fixed blade I've had.

if you break the izula they replace it free. how can you beat that? other than that the koster knives are really sweet and come with a cool sheath.
