I want to replace my Gerber Ridge Knife folder for something thinner and lighter. Basically I know nothing about knives but want something that is pretty much non-existent in my pocket.

Requirements:

-3" closed, or there abouts
-As thin as possible, it would be nice if any included clip could be removed
-Don't think I want less than a 2" blade, but maybe

Thanks for the help.

I had one of those Gerber's and hated it...I replaced mine with a CRKT Ed Halligan PECK, I got mine at a great price from SMKW. I went with the rainbow TiNi coating and the gold clip...wanted a bit of bling for a money clip...but it is available in several styles. It is smaller than the Gerber and the quality difference between the two is very noticeable. Other than the higher end models, such as the LMF, I think I am done wasting money on Gerber products.

It doesn't appear to be, but I may be wrong. I also bought a US made Schrade Silouette Liner Lock online...they are pretty inexpensive. I took the clip off of it...and it is very thin and quite a lot of blade for taking up such a small amount of space.

Ok I think I have the knife for you. The Al Mar Falcon Ultralight. I don't think knives get much thinner, it is around three inches. It is very very light and you can remove the clip. It comes very sharp and if I am not mistaken it is under $100.

Check out AG Russels site , also look a William Henry's Legacy model .

Buck/Mayo TNT is a thin knife. Titanium handle and S30V with Paul Bos HT.

What about knife without a clip? :)
Like BM440, S30V blade, Al handles

I'd second the Cricket. It's just a little smaller than what you spec as ideal, but it is a wonderful cutter with the most useful point of any knife I've used. Plus VG10 steel and framelock. Small knife, big performance.

This is just what your looking for a Victorinox alox Secretary, Bantam, Settler, pruner, Solo or apprentice.

My Benchmade Mel Pardue 335 is super thin. The clip is actually thicker than the knife itself. The knife, without the clip is exactly the same thickness as one of the really thin CD cases. (about 1/2 as thick as a standard cd jewel case) It's a nice little knife, though a bit slippery.

The Victorinox Alox Secretary is as light & as thin as it gets. Two inch main blade & 1 inch pen blade & 3 1/4 inches closed. It will disappear in your pocket.
