help for newbie

hello all!

i have this knife that was given to me by my grandfather and i was told it was his fathers knife and i am trying to find out anything about this knife.

it is a schrade and it only has patent numbers on it . no other id.
it says schrade cut co. walden,n.y. on one side of the blade and us pats. dec.21,09 and sept 13,10 and june 6,16 .

it is a button operated switch knife. has a carved bone looking handle.

any help to find out approx. what date it is from or any info would be great. this is something that i would never sell and would be passed down to my boys but i dont know much else about it. thank you for any help on info for this. chris

Pictures are a big help, but I can tell you it is for sure older than 1946, just by virtue of the stamp.

This link will take you to a Schrade catalog (for a second visit it looks like ) that might have the example pictured. Good Luck, and the push button knives are very collectable. Others might have better luck with exact dates.

first of all thank you for that info.

it is a model 1553 3/4. it is 4 1/4" long .

so can i say this knife is approx. 100 years old by the patent dates?
any other info would be great, and again thank you! chris
