I recently purchased 2 Delicas in ZDP-189 from sellers with 100% feedbacks, one a BF member. Both were the original owners who purchased from reputable dealers.

When I received them, I gave them a close inspection, comparing to each other and to an older Delica in VG10. Both ZDP Delicas are identical and the only difference from the VG10 Delica are the blade markings - the VG10's is rolled/stamped, while the ZDP's seem to be etched. S'okay, I thought, different steels, different process.

BUT, while the "SPYDERCO ZDP-189" were clean and straight on one side, the "SEKI-CITY JAPAN" were rough and jagged on the other. On both of them.

I ask another BF member who has a Delica ZDP-189 and his are all clean and straight.

So ... how does your Delica ZDP-189 compare?

Are these rough and jagged etchings just a manufacturing defect?

I know the dies used to produce the tang stamps wear out and get replaced, so it really doesn't prove anything, but the lettering on both sides of mine, which I'm sure is genuine since it's CC#d and received back when I was in the Club, looks like the lettering on the left.
