I just got my two knives today…., Cougar and Pasayten…, which look good of both of them (well, Pasayten is fantastic!). I had bought 1 in the morning, and the other in the evening, a couple days after Xmas, so both knives had shipping money. When I bought those knives, TOPS had said the “free scalpel” was free up to 12/25, but around 1/7 or 8, I found that the free scalpel was now free up to 12/31, so I thought I’d see if I could get the scalpel through the two knives I’d bought.

TOPS knives given me an email:

“Orders # 686 and 687 were shipped together on the 1 -8- 03 a shipping refund check is inclosed. Order # 703 for a free scalpel was shipped 1 -10- 03 estimated time of arrivel will be the 1 -15- 03
WITH THANKS
TOPS KNIVES”

Which sent my two knives and one shipping refund check on 1/8, PLUS the scalpel on 1/10…, which was great from them. I try to be “good”, of the “GOOD, BAD, UGLY” part <s>…, and I’m going to either rip the refund check, or mail it back to TOPS, if necessary. I am HAPPY about TOPS help about things.

Two days back, I was about to get a Busse Groove Master…, and just two days before than sending it, I tried to “un-buying” the Groove Master, so I could “up-buying” a Satin Jack LE. Busse helped me quick and very good. I'm now getting the Satin Jack LE, and should get the new knife by mid-Feb. And now I've found that CG is 3/16" thickness, but LE is 1/4"..., and Busse is cutting the LE to made it thinner, which was a very good help with Busse.

I've had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Fuller at TOPS myself. I received a CQT Magnum in a trade which had a bit of blade wobble. Apparently some of the screws that hold the lockbar in place were loose so on Monday I disassembled the knife to tighten them, but one of screws was badly stripped. To make matters worse, when I proceeded to reassemble the knife two of the handle screws broke! I called TOPS and explained the situation and told Mr Fuller up front that I was not the original owner of the knife and that I disassembled the knife and broke the screws. He said if I fealt that I could correct the problem with the loose lock bar myself, he would send me replacement screws free of charge which I should be receiving shortly. Now that's what I call excellent customer service!

I'm now getting the Satin Jack LE
Excellent choice. I just got one and it is an incredible knife. Very substantial blade. Mine is 6mm (1/4") at the tang and it tapers continuously toward the tip. It sounds like they are going to make yours thinner? I'm sure it will be awesome but I am curious about why you want it thinner?

I like thinner knives. I'm not trying to using knives to cut a log home (g), I might cut a deer, or slice food, or cut thin wood for fire..., and thicker steel makes all of those things more difficult.

I do have a Busse Battle Mistress (pre-E) knife, that's 1/4" pre-spear blade :) knife that I could cut a stick home, but I wanted a thinner Satin Jack.

I'm not completely crazy of the TOPS Cougar, which is a short 3/16" steel. The TOPS Pasayten with a 5 1/2", 1/8" thin :D knife is beautiful..., for ME, anyway.
