Just bought a butterfly knife described as lightly used. Half the screws are stripped and the torx bit is snapped off in a screw how can I buy screws for it if I get the crap end of this deal. Bm 62.

Yeah, that's what happens when sellers are lazy and/or are trying to get as much out of their bad condition knife as they can. Ask questions before you buy, or avoid listings that are stingy with descriptions/pictures.

I would do what you can to manage a return to the seller. If it was done through Ebay, the exchange here, or payment was sent via paypal goods, there are systems in place for you to demand a refund if the seller refuses. If it was by credit card you should have the ability to backcharge them if they deceived you and refuse to give you a refund.

If the seller refuses and you don't have the ability to demand recourse, Benchmade does have very solid customer service. If you send it in to them chances are they'll get it back in working condition. There is a decent chance they'd consider it abuse and charge you for the service, but the cost will still be small compared to that of a new knife.

In my opinion it's just straight up dishonesty. If a knife is in such bad shape that you cannot disclose all of the wear and still find interested buyers, then it is in no shape to be sold. It's basically no less than selling damaged goods in my mind.

Id give the seller (with 100% feedback) a chance to make it right, before freaking out.

On a side note, any Benchmade can be sent in and refurbished for free (minus the $5 shipping) They have awesome CS.

I offered to cover the cost for shipping and repairs at Benchmade and offered a refund via Paypal. He declined both and stated he would keep it.

I can post full email communications if need be; doesn't seem necessary. So that we are all on the same page; blade was bought $100 below MSRP. I've provided two solutions; both declined. Blade is near perfect condition, it has factory edge. Handle has scratches no major nicks which was disclosed via email. Stripped screws was an oversight. I offered to cover the cost to send to Benchmade and cover repairs; in the event the buyer still wanted the blade. I also offered a refund via Paypal. Both offers where declined. I was advised via email (after this original thread) buyer stated will keep the blade.

I wasn't even allowed 24 hours to respond to the issue before this was posted on the forums. I do work different hours than most and advised within the post. Quote: "I work funky hours; but will respond within 24 hours."

Anything else I can do for the buyer I'm all ears.

send it tp bm they will fix it like new.you wont new screws.thats all he asked for anyway.seller seems to be onboard

So you post help, help, help, help.......................help with what??

The seller offered a refund via paypal or repairs thru Benchmade, what else in the world would you need US to help you with?

I would say this thread is a whole lot of nothing, maybe as a newcomer you should look at the whole picture before jumping to GB&U:mad:

2nd post on the forums is "The sky is falling, but I refused a resolution". Agree that this should have never been posted in the GBU section.

To the seller, need to look at your knives a little closer as "lightly used" usually doesn't mean stripped screws. Oversights happen but just being fair & objective to both sides.

:rolleyes:im sure a stripped screw and a torx bit broken off in the screw was "just an oversight"

Yes, the seller needs to take more care in describing the knife but the OP was offered basically anything he wanted to make it right and refused. Instead he started this thread whining for help. Well, he denied the only help that would have actually helped. No surprise that his first post was a purchase and his second post was an unneeded whine thread in the GB&U. Further, also not surprising that he has not logged back in since he started this thread. It is always a risk selling to someone with no rep or experience here. Don't get me wrong, I have done it but I knew what I was getting into and the item was not expensive IIRC.
