I bought a Sebenza from Ebay months ago, the received item was quite far away from the description of the seller. Any suggestion please!

Item Name: 1999 Anniversary Sebenza

Trade-Links: http://cgi.ebay.com/Chris-R....iewItem

Description of seller: Excellent undamaged condition.

Condition of received knife:
1. quite dirty full over, very heavy used signs,
2. the blade is rusted,
3. safe lock is used up.

Complaining to Seller and her answer :
This item was not mis-described. As you can see from our picture this knife was very clean and not ever used. Yet you are saying otherwise. When it left here it was in Not used condition. If you are sure it has been used, then file a claim with customs.

Complaining to Ebay and its answer:
Please present signed proof from Authority of this kind of knife stating the condition of it. We will process your complaint afterwards.

I had this happen with an item from ebay. Paypal denied me, so I sent the item back with tracking number and went to my credit card for a FULL refund. Took an additional month or so, but got all my money back.

just keep it and send it crk for a refurb-

and its also a bg42 blade so you wont have any trouble selling it if you decide to-

You are in a bit of a bind. I'm guessing that you are not in the US. You could send it back to CRK and it will probably be worth it.

It's not an anniversary edition, it's the annual Limited Edition. The lock looks OK, is there blade play?

What was the seller ID?

How much did you pay? 1999 was the first year they made the LE's and with a BG-42 blade, I would have kept it and had it refurbed. The scratches on the clip are easily taken out with scotchbrite. Too bad you sent it back. The large LE's are going for $600 and up and are selling like hotcakes. I think you made a mistake.

Opps maybe you still have the knife, I think I misread. Keep it refurb it and use it!!!!

The seller was a pawn shop. I would think pawn shops usually have used things. At least the ones I have been in do. Send it back to CRK spa and chalk it up as a lesson learned. My $0.02

Anyone buying from this eBay Seller may want to reconsider. This person has a lot of negative and neutral feedback. I would steer clear of this one. For anyone who would like to see a seller's/buyer's feedback fairly quickly should use this link: http://www.toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs. I use it every time before I buy from an eBay Seller. It at least gives you an idea of seller's integrity.

The item was described as not damaged, but I wouldn't call it excellent as they did either. You may have overpaid just a bit, though it looks likes a good specimen.

How to protect yourself? know the current market price of what you're bidding on and don't exceed that.

Avoid ebay, or ebay seller with that much negative feedback.

Looking at the picture of the lockup there seems to be a lot more space on the lockarm side of the blade than the solid scale side. I'd take it apart and put it back together correctly and see if the lockup looks better. I've never seen a Sebbie lockarm go that far over personally.

i agree with oilman i havent ever seen a seb either with the lock bar going over that far.

i would send it to CR for refurb, it doesnt cost much IIRC, then it'll be like new.

Many thanks for your concern and suggestion.
Very fond of here, a nice place.
I cleaned it today but the frams lock is still unadjustable.

From the pic above, the lock bar is too far over. Remove the clip and gently apply pressure in the opposite direction (do this in repeated motions - NOT in one attempt). . . .until the lock bar is even with the scale. To do this, the knife must be taken apart.

If the spot above is a rust spot. . . .place a small amount of oil on it. Let it rest overnight and then with a toothpick or small piece of wood, scrape/rub the rust area. You can also use "000" steel wool. Keep the area lubricated with oil as you're working the area. Rub the area parallel with the blade.

It also looks like the protective coating is no longer on the inlays. A bit of Ren wax will help seal it.

If you don't feel comfortable with the above. . . . .send it back to CRK for a refurb. Remember, contact them first.

Are both scales snug to the washers between them and the blade? Maybe it was the angle of the picture in the first group you took but it didn't look quite right.

I think there is shadows in the first set of pics concerning the lock bar.

It looks to me like it's in spec, around 66%. You didn't say if it has blade play or not.

ut the frams lock is still unadjustable.

They are not adjustable in the traditional sense of tightening or loosening the pivot. The pivot should be tight.

The rust is not a big deal, I have a few users with a little discoloration there, that area tends to collect lint and desbris a bit and a little moisture too I would imagine.
