What kind of bushwacking are you doing to need a machete? I'm trying to wrap my head around that as I've never seen the need. No judgement just wondering.
The only thing a hatchet/hawk/axe can't do is clear brush. However, it can chop down a short walking staff with which you can push brush aside or break it down out of the way.
