I don't think its an HI guys but then again I know next to nothing about these blades but I'm working on learning. I have a lot of threads to read!

Here is a pic of it along with a buck for comparison. Owner passed away so no history on it at all.

Thanks for any help,

Billy

It's not a HI. Has it been used? It appears so. The experts will be here shortly- welcome to HI Forum and Cantina.

I hate to give bad news, but a lion's head pommel usually means a piece made for tourists. Try it out on some chopping chores. If the edge holds up you've got a user, if it dulls quickly you've got a nice decoration. Welcome to the forum.

Looks alot like a tourist piece to me(mostly made in India)-dont be discouraged,though....I have several of these myself!:D

Its a good thing to have a tourist model around. That way you can compare when you get your first HI. Most of us here have had the same experience. I keep my Indian Khukrappie around just for this purpose. When you sit it next to an HI model you will be blown away.

Watch for Deals of the Day (DOTD). Or, e-mail Yangdu to see if she has anything left that fits your needs. Enjoy HIKV because now you have been assimilated.

I have one of those "Lion Head Specials" a Christmas present from my parents back in the seventies. The horn handle has held up well with no treatment or TLC but the blade won't hold an edge.

There is no Mercedes Benz engineering in that Khuk as in the H.I.'s....LOL!!!!:D

It's not half as bad as some I've seen. aproy1101 is right about the best use being held up to your eventual HI blade.

That is what I had hoped to avoid. Several months ago I had finally decided to buy a Kurki, but I only wanted the best. A useful tool that I can use and not have to worry about poor quality crap breaking on me. During my research I came to the conclusion that HI seemed to be the best, and after receiving and using thier product, I am more than happy with my purchase, and am very glad I didn't buy a $20 paper weight.
