Help ID a WWII Japanese Sword

Hello Frank, As to wether it is a traditionally made blade or another method. The best way to tell is to have an expert look at it. With the pictures you have of the mei and tang, you could post them on Mr. Steins japanese sword discussion forum or direct them to this forum. I believe his web address is listed in the above replies (thanks Triton). Mr Stein is very knowledgeable and can give you some good information. Or you could go to a japanese sword show in your area. Mr Stein also has a list of upcoming shows. I have seen some good blades in 1944 model mounts, but usually in the dark scabbard version. But????????? with japanese swords you can never tell. I hope this is some help and good luck. May your sword be gendaito and forever sharp.
