Help ID & repair this Khukris

I came across a Khukris with the markings of "Ghurka Army 7 78" with an emblem of crossed Khukris. The handle is black (bone?) with a brass buttcap. The sheath is extremely similar to the HI sheath except it has a brass decoration of crossed Khukris under a symbol on it. It also bears the number 7 78. The blade is in decent shape with a few scratches. Any idea of value or orgin would be appreciated.

Additionally, the Chakma is stuck way down inside the sheath. All efforts to extract it have been futile. Any suggestions?

Hi, Glenn:

The handle is probably horn and not bone. John Powell may be able to help us with the markings. He is up on that kind of stuff a lot better than me.

That karda is a problem. If all fails you may have to punch a small hole in the scabbard and try to worm it up and out going from bottom to top.
