Hi

I won this Spydie on another forum. (Not my pic--I don't have it yet!) What's the model? Any other info (blade steel etc...) ?

I am not that familiar with Spydies (more of a Benchmade guy) but I am excited that soon I'll have my first Spyderco when it arrives next week.

Thanks!

Is it made in Golden Colorado USA?? If it is it sure looks like the Vesuvius I used to own. If it's made in Seki City Japan then it is the Centofante 3.

Where it's made will tell you the answer.

I guess I will just have to wait until it gets here to see where the stamp on the blade says it was made! I am happy either way--it is a freebie!

its a backlock - its a centofante (either 3 or 4 - cant really tell)
the vesuvius was a Compression lock

Looks like a Centofante 3. Congratulations. You just won yourself one heck of a knife.

Thanks again for updated info! I'm excited to check out Spyderco. I should have it by next Saturday!

It appears to be a Centofante III or 4. Either way, great knife. I really like mine a lot. The III blade has some belly and is nice for cutting food, while the 4 has a very nice wharncliff blade. You can't go wrong.

Like others have said, it is a Cent 3 or 4. It looks like a 4 based on how the blade curves toward the handle but it may be the 3 since it is a drop point.

The good news is, that is one of the best Spydercos being made today. I carry and use my Cent 4 more than any other Spyderco. It has replaced all my Delicas and I think it is a more refined knife than the Delica. It is very light and slim yet is much stronger than it feels. I took mine hiking a few weeks ago and I put it to rough use. I was surprised that it stood up so well.

I bought it because it is one of my cheaper Spydercos and I didn't want to risk losing my Military since I was going to be climbing rocks and swimming. I figuired it was better to lose a $45 knife than a CF Mili that would be hard to replace. I end up using it more and more all the time because it is such a great design.

JDSpydo, you have to check one of these out. I think you will be impressed. I think you would perfer the Cent 4 since it is a Wharncliff blade and you like the hawkbills so much. I give it my seal of approval.

The centofante 4 is a very nice knife. I had one and it was hard to let go of it. I kind of wish I still had it. :(

Congrats on your new fine knife. I think it's a Cento III and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as your BMs. :)

I was going to say CIII at first as well but the picture angle is difficult to verify...from the photo it fits the CIV profile better. I hope the OP posts a picture when he get it or at least tells us if it a 3 or a 4.:)

Check the thread you won it from, you'll find the answer there, about post 17.;)
