Help identify this fixed blade buck knife

Frankly, I am surprised at how quickly I am learning things about this knife. It kind of blows my mind.

Now that I know the rarity of the knife, I would be hesitant to carry / use the knife. The knife is still under warranty, but, if damaged, it would not come back the same.

Is this forum a good place to ask about the knife sheath? Specifically, how can I preserve it if the knife is so rare? The sheath is in decent shape now, but, the leather has not been tended to in a while. Now that I think about it, the few leather knife sheaths that I have should probably all be tended to.
I use mink oil on my leather sheaths and all leather goods. Just apply liberally and let is soak in a warm place like a window sill just not to hot or it can cook the leather. After an hour or so it soaks in and will be more supple. Just use mineral oil on the knife blade and keep it dry out of the sheath as leather can start corrosion.

pitonyak - Nice knife and sheath in excellent shape. You don't see them in any better shape than yours is.

Here is a picture of some of mine. The picture is a few years old and the drawer is now full.

Truly an awesome collection of fixed blades. Nice to have such a choice when deer season rolls around!

Thanks, I now have three knife sheaths sitting around with some Mink Oil on them. I did my Gerber fitted sheath from the 70's / 80's that I used a bunch growing up, the Buck Sheath, and an old Shrade-Warden sheath that my daughter now has (same vintage as the Buck).

The brown snap and 'BUCK' stamped in the leather just below the opening identify this as one of the earliest.
Group 1 or maybe Group 2. Probably about 1946-47. To lazy to find my notes.
Perfect, thanks, I added that to my notes on the knife. I have notes for many of the knives that I own so that I can track them.

Now that is a lot of fixed blade knives. Almost all of mine are folders. And your knife cabinet is larger than mine:

I also do wood working and I had some left-over African Mahogany so I built this little cabinet. I used hand cut dovetails and I cut the tails on the wrong boards so the tails should be on the side to add strength; not that anyone but a woodworker is likely to notice I suppose. The top drawer is all small knives. I should have made one more drawer, that is all I need (he lied to himself). On the bottom of the shelves, I used adhesive backed cork for some shelves (should have done it for all of them) and some I used this stuff that you can put under carpets to keep them from moving; that carpet stuff comes out trivially so when I have nothing else to do I might replace it. Both keep my knives from sliding around.
