Firstly, I apologize if this isn't the proper section to post this in.

I've had this knife for some time now, but I have absolutely no idea about what it is. The only marking on the entire thing is 'STAINLESS PAKISTAN'.

When 'closed' the blade simply rests half of its length inside a channel in the handle. To unlock and open it, a paddle lever (shown in the last image) must be pushed up. Once the blade has been mostly unfolded a small guard is flipped down by camming against the top edge of the handle.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Welcome. Its called a D'Estaing dagger..or sometimes a folding Bowie.

What else would you like to know?

Pakistani knives are of notoriously low quality.

Thank you, very much!

The only thing I wanted to know was what it is. I'd gotten it a few years ago on a whim, simply because I'd never seen anything else like it before.

Again, thank you. I may look more into this style of knife.

They are neat knives D'Estaing daggers. Carried in a sheath. Meant to be used closed or open.

It's just a cheap Pakistani copy of an old marbles folding Bowie. ( though marbles wasn't the first, they did basically introduce them to the US )
Luckily you didn't ask for a value, because it's not allowed and because it has none.

Also called a Saufanger in Germany, although I've never actually seen one used for boar hunting :).
