So I was purchasing a Benchmade nimravus from the local pawn shop when I spotted this thing in the case--absolutely no markings on it except for a nicely stamped "317" in the spine of the handle. Normally I'd think it was a piece of junk, but the Kydex sheath is a perfect fit and nicely done. Could be an aftermarket sheath, but someone took the time to do it for this knife. Anybody want to toss out a guess? I've been surfing pics on the web with no luck so far.

Wow !!! not only are you guys awesome but QUICK ! After I searched for the name, I found out to look under the grips and I found the Bud Nealy stamp. I also found a bunch of other internet posts asking the same question I did :) seems the sanitized blade just begs for questions.

Thanks again,

Pretty sure that some of these were made for the 10th Special Forces Group (Abn) a few years back, which might explain why the maker's mark was put under the grips. The 10th SFGA is at Ft Carson, CO, are you around that area? John

Can't remember which issue, but there was a write-up on that knife in Tactical Knives. Upper cut-out on the blade was done to assist in trapping moves or some such reason.

Don't know if I like the design but if half this stuff is true looks like an interesting history and a heck of a find.

I live right down the street from Carson. I did a quick search on the knife and it appears they did a special run of 100 knives to close out this model. My serial number is in the 300's so I don't know if it was a 10th SFGA issue or not.

You might try contacting the Public Affairs Officer for the 10th and see if they have a record of the serial numbers they got. With you location and the fact that they did buy 100 of these knives, pretty good chance that it was one of the knives the 10th SFGA bought. John
