Help identifying knife

Hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I got a knife I'd like to know more about.
It is about a foot in length with markings on the sheet of J.a. dipaola and on the spine of the knife there are the markings of ah and X separated by indents on the spine alternating sides. To meet it looks a bit like a souvenir piece but wondered if anyone could educate me a bit on it.

That looks like a good example of a Gaucho knife, traditionally worn by cowboys in Argentinian and Uruguay.

Yes, there were many styles of dress type goucho knives. I have a hand me down that is similar. Many of these were made in the late 1800's to mid 1930's. Mine is from that period.
