Help identifying sword / dagger

    I have never seen anything quite like it but it looks African ( maybe East African?) to me. It might be worth trying the Bernard Levine forum if you have no luck here.

    Strangely it seems to be some sort of islamic world origin tyoe sword but the construction reminds me of Japanese swords with bamboo pegs through the handle type construction. (Not saying it is japanese).

    I agree that the sheath certainly has an east african vibe to it.

    Maybe it belongs to a darfur samurai?

    Triton you were closest. Thanks. I was able to find it when I started searching for African daggers. It is a North African Shula dagger. It was at an auction and I passed on it. Not very valuable or rare it seems. Very mean looking knife never the less.
