Hi, I recently purchased this knife (see pic) on the Bay. It is marked "GRECO" plain as day, but it is unlike any Greco I have ever seen. As you can see in the photo, it has a polished, mirror finish blade and colored wood handles. Is this an unusual John Greco knife, or a different Greco altogether? Either way is fine, as I didn't pay too much for it, but I am curious. Can anybody help? Thanks,
Clark

Its a real Greco alright, it matches his style and that’s his tang stamp above the hilt. I believe that its one of his older modules, back before he started to make lots of tactical black knives...

Most of Johns current models use removeable (via 3 allen head screws)black micarta handles. And a grey "crib safe" finish on the blades. He will finish with black on occassions, depending on model. Sometimes, a variation in handle material is used or perhaps at the request of a customer. I' ve only seen one standard model, the Knight, where John used pinned wood scales. But I' ve never seen a mirror polished finish on his blades! Perhaps you have a model that had aftermarket work done to it. Looks nice either way.

Thanks for the responses. I also emailed David Bata at CQC Tactical Knives, who sells Greco knives for John and hopefully he can shed some light. I'll post what I find out.

I just talked to John and he said it was made 15-20 years ago and the sheath was made by Big G leather works.

It's one of mine, OK. made in the old Bay St. Louis, Miss., shop. Probly 15+ year ago. The blade is 440C, Paul Baush heat treated the blade, Big 'G' made the sheath.Haven't seen one of these knives in a long time. John
