Hello all, new to the forum here, and to the knife hobby in general. I recently bought large number of knifes and have a couple that I (and I mean google) cant identify. The one in question here is engraved 'PICO' on one side of the blade and '011' on the other. The knife is very sturdy, quite well made. I think it may be a custom piece (or hand made?) due to the engraving on both sides and the slightly a-symmetrical shape of the wooden handle. Does any one know anything about this mysterious pico? Sorry for the large photots, I couldn't figure out how to reduce the image size..

Agreed, you can certainly tell someone (or something?) put quite a bit of work into it. Really a mean looking blade now that you point that out!

I'm just guessing here, but it looks like it's from the 1970s, and likely Japanese-made but possibly even Pakistan-made.......At least I'm pretty sure it's not made in the USA. "PICO" is likely the name of the knife's past owner and the "011" likely an ID number or employee number. Both engravings look like they were not from the factory....

What makes you think it's 70's era? I didn't even think of 'pico' possibly being someone's name.. But yea, the engraving certainly doesn't look factory to me either, a little too off the cuff and too close to the cutting edge of the blade, which is what made me think its handmade or a custom piece

It looks similar to a lot of knives made in the 70's......Big bolster, lockback, wood scales, brass liners. I guess you could say it's in a "style' of knives from that era. It could be from the 1980s too, but I'm going with 1970s.

I am with the others, the scribing might have been added by the owner. That handle certainly looks like it's probably comfortable for a working knife. Very nice.
