I have this 8000 grit water stone that I bought some time ago, it's at least 5 or 6 years old. But for the life of me I cannot remember who makes this stone.....if I ever knew to begin with. Can anyone help ID who the manufacturer is? Thanks so much.

Looks like a Masamoto 5k but you say 8k so maybe it's a Suehiro?

Hard to say... If only I could read Japanese...

The brand you have is sold at Japanwoodworker.com, they only have it in 3000 grit though.

I saw that, Jason (japan woodworker stone). As a matter of fact, I want to say this stone was bought thru them, but pretty sure it's an 8000 grit. They don't have it (8K) in their catalogs any longer.

My guess was Suehiro. Knifecenter has this identical stone, only theirs is a 6000 IIRC. It just says from Japan on the description.

Thanks for your thoughts.
