Which of these would be the best choice. The blackout should be light with it's nylon handle but not as much as the Skyline. Also how does the Blackout stack up to the Blur. Basically the same except blur blade has slight recurve? Thanks for all replies

The only way you'll ever know is to buy both and then choose. What works for someone else may not work for you.

I don't have a Skyline folder (do have the fixed version) but I do have a Blackout and a Blur. I bought the Blackout mainly for looks, and to be honest, I reminds me of some SOGs in the sense that it feels a little flimsy. The Blur is what I'd consider a workhorse, if a bit boring, and definitely more suited to my personal EDC needs.

I own a Damascus Skyline here are a few things to keep in mind about it. The thumb studs are practically useless from my experience and the flipper is the way to go for getting it to open but it flips open with ease with the flipper. It's very lightweight and comfortable in the hand but seems to disapear in your pocket in the sense that you forget it's there until it needed. It's by far one of the better knives to EDC in my opinion.

I have a Skyline and its a sweet little knife BUT it never gets carried because I prefer big beefy folders (G10 Manix 2, BM 520, HK 14715). Sometimes the Skyline will be carried as a secondary folder in a cargo pant pocket but never as a main EDC.

The blackout was my first nice knife. Very different from the skyline with the larger size and assisted opening. I like them both. The blur has metal handles and is a bit wider. I would go handle them in a store, they sell these kershaw models at the big box stores

Keep in mind, they're not thumbstuds on the Skyline, they're blade stops. They were never meant for deployment. It's a flipper only by design.

My choice of the three would be Skyline everyday of the week that ends in "y". I have a Blackout that I've never carried, the Blur is assisted with skateboard tape on the handles...I have 20 Skylines.

I may not be neutral, lol

I'd prefer the Skyline.

I EDC'ed several Skylines for awhile. The G10 scales are very nice and, at 2.5oz, almost disappears in your pocket. The flipper action is very smooth. The 1760DAM Damascus version is very pretty.

If I wanted a tacticool knife, I'd go with the Blur.

Of the three I like the Skyline the best. I even used to have one. A couple things, however. The clip is terrible, the pivot was always gumming up with crap which made it difficult to flip. I wish I could have gotten it in a different color, and I don't like the finish on the blade at all. Aside from that I liked it. :D If I were doing it again, I'd just skip it and get a Delica instead.

Between the Blackout and Skyline, I like the Skyline more. Add the Blur into the mix, and I'd pick that over the other two. All three are fairly different though, so it really comes down to your preferences. The Skyline is very slim in pocket, has decent ergos, and high hollow-ground blade that, combined with its thinner blade stock, makes for an excellent slicer. The Blackout has a thicker handle, which can be good under extended use. The Blur is a bit larger, although due to its thin profile, actually carries pretty comfortably. The blade has a large belly and very slight recurve. It's a bit more stout than the other two. Fun-factor-wise, the Blur is assisted-opening perfection IMO, and the Skyline is an addictive manual flipper.

Here's a shot I took a while back that happens to have those three. Skyline and Blackout on the far left, and Blur is 3rd from the right.

My choice between the three is also the Skyline. I own the blackwash model and it's one of my most carried folders. Extremely light yet sturdy, G10 offers good grip, and it flips open easily and is extremely smooth. My only gripe is the clip. I hated it so much I got a titanium deep carry clip for it and it's made it light years better. I've never owned a Blackout, but I have owned a Blur and sold it. I've purged my collection of recurves, plus I didn't like the grip tape and thought the lock bar was rather flimsy.
