Help...little "fuzzy" on fuzz sticks

Notice that the guys posting pics of their long thin curly fuzz sticks are using split wood and not a branch like this. There is a reason for that;)

I've played in the woods for 50+ years and never used a fuzz stick. Didn't know I was supposed to. :o Not saying they don't work, though - I'll have to try it one day.

Of course, then again, a lot of you guys don't have a pete! :D
