Received a customized Chaves Megalodon today, love the knife. The ti has been anodized burnt bronze and the hardware and clip anodized blue / purple.

The only thing is, the Lockbar sticks really bad when it is flipped open, like, takes one hand prying the blade back and the other with all fingers on the lockbar to get it to release. Is this normal, or does it take some breaking in?

I want to say that the more I flip and unlock it the more it is sticking, but it could also be that I am getting better at deploying the blade...

Also, this is my first knife like this, but the detent seems to be a little "grindy"

I could carbidize it.

Yah . . . I don't know about that knife but I know about how easy it is to cut your self attempting to unlock a serioiusly stuck blade lock.
Be very careful.
Better yet, STOP, wrap it up as it is, put it in the box and send it back whence it came.

I'd like to hang on to it, got a hella deal on the knife (now I know why lol) I would much rather seek a fix to the problem

Put some pencil lead on where the lock meets the tang. Lots of open/close.
If not better in a week or so return/contact maker etc.
Best of luck.

+1
Be diligent with the pencil though. Apply it when ever it sticks. If its no better in after week or so, send it back

It sounds like when flipped open, its locking up hard and hey deep in the blade. Try the pencil but maybe the knife is a little out of whack. Maybe loosen the screws and see if you can adjust the lockbar position

Adjustment sounds like a good solution; alla 115Italian

You could send it to a knife maker and have them fix it. Costs bucks though so never mind.

Hey . . . I got it . . . make a sheath for it and call it a "Fixed Blade" ! :p
I'm not helping much am I ? :o :)

Seriously though it sounds like flicking it open makes it stick. That was what was going on with mine that bit me BAD. How is it when you just open it easy, use it and unlock it ? Tha's no fun though is it.

Theblake,

Hey could we see a photo of this bad boy ?
Especially the lock bar.
