help! looking for a small folder for daily carry

How about an Opinel? They're cheap, lightweight, can be had in almost any size you want, and have a classic look. They have either carbon or stainless steel. If you really need a lanyard hole it's easy enough to drill through the wood handle. I've done it on one I have.

Another option would be an EKA compact. It has sandvik 12C27 steel and comes in a few different colors. It has a lanyard hole also.

Case has the brushed executive lockback you might be interested in.

1. Affordable. We're talking less than $30US. I know quality increases with price, but since the knife isn't going to be bandied about for heavy use anyway, quality takes a back seat.
2. small and lightweight. Blade length no more than 3.5" or 9cm, open length no more than 7" or 18cm.
3. Good looking, but still conventional. No Spydercos, for example. Preferably a drop point.
4. Have a lanyard hole. :P

Thanks all!

I would vote for the SAK in a Cadet Model (Victorinox).

1. Easily found for around $20.
2. Thin, lightweight, main blade 2 3/4.
3. Classic looks, available in several color, spearpoint main blade.
4. has a split ring for a lanyard (I like having the mini pry bar on mine).

A cheap knife I recently started using and like a lot is the Buck Bantam.
It's a lockback and has a lanyard hole, good ergonomics, American made(if that's important)and Buck's stainless is no slouch either. Inexpensive but not cheap feeling:thumbup:

Another dead cert which is more Traditional is a Sodbuster from CASE or Queen, A1 working knife, not menacing, light in and on the pocket but tough as old boots. an essential in my view.

Well, a readthrough of UK knife legislations put a damper on my Bantam-buying. Locking knives were treated identically to fixed blade knives in previous court cases and the last thing I need as a medical student is a horribly stupid felony.

I've bought the Victorinox classic. Done and done!
