I have in my possession one of the early, American made, Masters of Defense Dieter Mark 1 autos. A co-worker owns it and is considering selling. The problem is, this thing has been used and abused. It needs to be torn apart and completely gone over, but I have neither the tools nor skills to do so. I also lack any knowledge of the inner workings of these knives.

Any advice and/or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Some pics after basic cleaning.

Is the action gritty? I could do a full tear down and solvent wash. Polish the metal on metal points of movement and lube.
