HELP ME. BK5 or BK2

My first becker was the 2. I love it because it can do everything. I eventually got the 5. 5 has a thinner blade so its more slicey. I'd say BK5 is more for food processing and BK2 for wood processing. But since I've put my BK2 through a WorkSharp its very slicey now. They're all great knives but I'm partial to the BK2 because its such a power house of a knife. You won't be disappointed with a becker.

I have the 2, and it handles everything I can throw at it, but I still want a 5 for food prep, and the 14 is a great little backup blade. Still need the 16 and the 9, though - and so do you.

You guys need to get away from the idea that the 5 is only good for food prep!!!!! It is a great all around camp knife that also does very well with food prep. There isn't anything out there that I wouldn't put the 5 up against!!! Just ask Jerry Fisk! I have personally beat the hell outa mine! Granted I won't pry with it, but if one needs to pry with a knife they have bigger problems.

I would absolutely use it as an all around chopper, but I would probably use it for food prep more often than not.

The correct answer is...

bk5, bk7, very usefull knives
bk2 if you think you'll be hit by a train

Nicely put!!

I bought the 2 first and could not be happier! Love my chunky lady! I participated with the passaround on the 5 and thought the 5 was great! But it just felt like it was too long for such a slicey blade. I ended up getting the BK7 instead. The BK15 really has me intrigued though. I think it may be the perfect blade for me, just need to get my mitts on one!

That being said, I do have plans on getting a 5 once they start showing up with the laser etchings. The shape and size of the blade would make a perfect blade for historical reenactments! Just a shave here and there and it makes for a great scalper!
