Help Me Buy a $100 Fixed Blade Gift

I've been researching for an all around do everything knife as well. I am really enjoying the suggestions, but in terms of the bang-for-the-buck factor, the Becker BK16 gets my vote... and my $$. I am buying one next week. Mine will also be used for camping and day hiking (to big and heavy for multi-day trips).

I have to put another vote in for esee.
Izula 2
Esee 3
Esee 4
Esee 5
are all tough as nails.
And no questions, lifetime warranty.

I'd go with either the Izula 2 or an Lt Wright Skeleton Key (strikes a firesteel). I have both and carry the skeleton key backpacking.

The Coldsteel Master Hunter is an option for easy maintenance and decent steel.

BK-16 is looking like the knife right now. Lots of good suggestions though!

ColdDeadHand, I'll keep that in mind. ;)

I suggest the Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter. Unlike many fixed blades, the BM 162 comes in a stainless steel (S30V), which will prevent corrosion and prove beneficial to a novice outdoorsman who is new to blade care. It will also hold an edge a lot longer than most carbon/tool steels, appears less intimidating and "tactical" due to the handle color, and is a solid size.

Kabar Becker BK7 or BK10.
ESEE 3-5
CRKT 2060 Elishewitz FTWS
Cold Steel SRK (San mai III)

If I were giving a gift, it would be a custom if I could. Like the JK O1 Element, or possibly an Anza. Two very different styles, but the meaning of giving a gift that was made by human hands just seems greater to me.

If you are set on a production, I think it is very hard to beat the Cold Steel SRK in the category. BK models are also very functional. I hate the Becker handles though.
