Help me buy scotch!

If you are looking to stretch a little beyond your comfort zone and are looking to get into an Islay I would recommend either the Bruichladdich "Rocks" or the Caol Ila 12 Year. These are both top notch examples of Islay for the $.

A couple recent pics I took with Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen @ Willett Distillery in Bardstown :)

I've never had a 15 yo single malt, so I am leaning that direction. I have limited scotch experience even though I do enjoy it. I've really enjoyed Glenfiddich 12 and Macallan 12, and didn't care much for Glenlivet 12.

I suggest you try a bottle of Highland Park,
it's a bit of a sleeper.

I don't have a great deal of expertise but I agree with Maniacal Pete. Given your experience I'd suggest the Highland Park 12. It's nowhere near as peaty or smokey as some of the other suggestions, which are an acquired taste. It's also relatively cheap. Of course the JW Blue is better but it's neither cheap nor a single malt.

Well.....it's amazing. I don't tend to like the hard stuff but this is great. I don't get drunk much since I had kids but I got hammered last weekend. The hangover was hell but JW blue is the best I've ever had. I am going to get another bottle but I will savour this one and not blow trough it in one night. My buddy who gladly agreed to partake in my bottle with me also agrees that it is amazing.

Try the Belvenie double cask or the Highland 12 before you spend that much on a blended whiskey again! (pretty much anything over 12 is tasty, 10 and under tends to be "sharp")
Heck, even the "Glen-whatever" between 16 and 21 should run you less than $150 and will do you right. (livet, fiddich, rothes, morangie, etc...)

I am a big fan of Jerry's scotch. It keeps him occupied long enough for me to drink all the tequila.
