help me catch Rats.

I've got a rat terrier and she's dynamite on 4 legs, lol!
Got claws like a cat and can run like a bat outa hell!
She goes bonkers over frogs and lizards, I'd hate to see her go after a rat, I'd never be able to call her back, lmao!!!!!

Cats are as much vermin as rats.

A Jack Russell is what you want.

When I was in Israel all those years ago, they had a terrible cat problem in the old city of Jerusalem. Cats in the alleys, cats walking across the top of the Wailing Wall, litters in little alcoves...thousands of 'em.

they were able to lick the peanut butter off without setting off the trap! How is this possible?? I guess they are being very delicate about it. :grumpy:

The trigger is too heavy on the trap. Are you SURE that thing works? Test it with a drinking straw or something.

Get on of those BIG traps with the spikes inside that they use for gophers and such.

Rig something to electrocute the suckers! Can you set something up so that their tongue touching the bait will complete a circuit?

.

yep it works. Infact I have 3 of those traps, side by side. All of them were licked clean. I will look into some other traps.

Were they fired or still set?

No wonder you have rats. You keep feeding them. :D

they were still set.

:o yeah my wife wants me to stop "feeding" them. haha...

oh geez...this is embarrassing, but I think I've been setting up the traps incorrectly. :o I think I've got it now though. Been putting the latch in the wrong spot.

I thought you tested it!

That's OK. They're REALLY going to be in for a surprise THIS time. :D

No, no.... you were just building up their confidence. Now, with the rats all comfortable eating from the traps, you'll get 'em all. Clever strategy.

I love the struggling rat.
Now what do you think of that?

He never tries to reach the skies,
He never sighs or alibis;
He always honors family ties --
He's better than a lot of guys
Who sneer, and then avert their eyes

As servants put out poisoned bait,
So much the working rat they hate.

Wonderin' if Gary has had any results yet as it's been all night.Bet there's a dead rat.

STOOOOOP!!!! Don't kill em all.... Get an air gun, have fun! Find a nice open spot, put something yummy (smelly) bacon off the pan, or hard cheese and put it in a hard to reach spot so as to stall the rat. When they show up.... pow! got 'em!

I used to be one of my favorite past times since rats are really smart and challenging to hunt.

Got rats living under my mobile home. I was able to catch one with a standard rat trap. Since then they seem to be able to take the food without setting off the trap. :(

I even go so far as to take a piece of sausage and tie it to the trigger mechanism of the trap. They seem to be able to take the food despite this.

Any tricks or tips? Anyone with more experience than me?

I hate to poison them because I don't want their little rotting bodies under my house, nor do I want to crawl under there to fish them out. :barf:

Take a match & burn the plastic off a bread wrapper tie . You can takl bacon or other meat, tie it on the trip in a dense wad. If they spring it & get away ,you need to go to a larger size.
