Help me choose a cruwear model

Where in my post did I state that Spyderco were custom knife makers? Spyderco make production knives and .

You didn't. It just seemed that you were implying we were wrong for calling the Cruwear sprints production knives. (Which they are) Getting back to the original question though, I do believe that when spyderco made the cruwear millie they were indeed the first company to use cpm Cruwear on a "non custom" knife.

Edit: Actually I just re-read your post and I think maybe you were just trying to say that it's unfortunate there were only a limited number made.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say, sorry if it appeared otherwise. Being limited edition knives then there is always someone that's going to miss out. If you offered me a cruwear millie right now at the original price I'd bite your hand off. Having used the cruwear manix for the last 3 weeks, I'm really impressed with the steel. I have only touched it up once on a fine ceramic stone and stropped it a couple of times, it holds a really nice edge.

I was never really a fan of the Manix design in the past but now I'm a convert. I think I prefer the grip on the Manix to my PM2. The fit and finish also surprised me, blade centering is perfect, strong detent, blade deploy's fast and smoothly and after a week the ball bearing lock lost it's stiffness and closes easily.

If you get the chance to buy either of these knives then don't listen to the voice of reason in your head, buy it :)

And if you ever look at the cruwear mule make sure it has the word cruwear underlined as it was recalled due to improper heat treat.

Love my Manix2 cru-wear. Depending on the reason why you weren't won over by the lightweight, you might like it better than the lightweight as the little extra weight makes it feel more solid and substantial of a knife. If you can, handle a regular Manix2 first to get a feel for it and see if the extra weight makes it a winner for you. Or buy both and resell it if it's not right for you.
