Help me choose a good camping/hiking FOLDING knife

Camping, hiking, and any other outdoors activity puts a knife to the test. I suggest the spearpoint Strider/Buck. It'll do everything you need out of a knife.

The 110 is a great knife, but I really like the 112. Same great sturdy quality but a little smaller and lighter. And the finger-grooved version really has a nice feel.

The Busse Folder (from Busse Combat Knives) has been rumored to be coming out for some time now (nobody, except perhaps Jerry Busse, knows for sure).

Not sure if you are familiar with Busse knives, but they use their own forged steel, INFI, which has no match in the industry for hard use purposes. Their fixed blade folders are the best in the industry and their warranty proves they believe in their product!

If you could wait, I would wait !! I know I am!! (www.bussecombat.com) Hope that helps!

I agree about the 112 - commonly called the Ranger - the 110 is the Folding Hunter.

BM 710 in M2 tool steel, it has become my no. 1 outdoor blade. Great lock, one handed opening, and excellent edge retention

I just got back from a week - long hiking trip, where I used a variety of folding knives. To my surprise, the BM 710 was the one that worked the best for me. It's got plenty of blade and a rock - solid lock, but it's slim and light enough not to weigh you down. The Al Mar SERE 2000 would also be a good choice. I have a variety of Bucks, including the 110 and the 112, but they can't approach the 710 or the SERE 2000 for reliability and ease of use.

If you're really partial to a Buck, you might consider the titanium version of the Folding Hunter. Look here. Lighter than the standard 110 and tough as nails.
