My wife asked for a new knife for Christmas. She wants a large, pretty folder. I would like to keep under $150. She loved this one but it is waaay too expensive.

I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks guys.

You can get a ZT 0920 right now for 189 shipped. A bit more than you want to spend but if she likes a large pretty knife, I'm not sure you will do better for the money and reg price is 240.

I'm thinking she may prefer a gentleman's folder. Everything I showed her with a solid plain handle she said it was kinda boring.

I gave my wife a delica about 2 years ago. It's very easy for her to manipulate the lock and she likes the size. I may order her some new scales and a custom pocket clip to give it a more interesting or custom look. They actually make some pretty awesome scales from what I've seen. Knife, custom scales and an aftermarket clip and you're still under $200. Might be a good path for you to take based on budget requirements.

Not sure why my I age isn't working

If my wife suddenly wanted a one-off custom folder such as that one (currently available on the exchange, I'll note)...I think I would feel obligated to get it for her. No way could she ever complain about one of my knife purchases after that. It's a license to buy for the rest of eternity. A small price to pay.

Unless it's a thousand bucks or something, you should get her the one she wants, even if it means selling some of yours.

She won't be like you, wanting a new one every week. She'll be happy with THAT one for a good long time. (That plus a Vic Classic)

This.

Credit card would be out like I drew it from a quick draw holster.

A thousand bucks? He posted a knife with a asking price of 7500 dollars. It's a little weird to me, no offense, that his wife would even know about it unless he showed it to her. Especially if she would have had to see it on the Exchange (everything else feels too coincidental) and then she would have noticed the idiotic price (11k $ apparently originally asking price). Sorry but, it seems fishy to me, especially at a ~150$ budget range.

As for a knife for your wife, as mentioned before Kizer has a lot of options in that range, if you're comfortable with paying more as some people have suggested, check out the Liong Mah GSD Tuxedo, Liong Mah Endeavor, the Reate Crossroads. About 3 times your budget but not 50 times what she supposedly asked for.

He should be able to find a knife for $150 that had interesting scales...

Judging by the knife she said she likes, I can divine a few things she might appreciate:

- Aesthetically pleasing curvature of a knife
- Color /pattern combinations that compliment each other
- Exacting machine finishes

I don't know if you'll find all three of these combined in the sub-$300 range. I'm afraid that your lowest-cost matching choice will either be notably over budget or will drastically fall short of what she might have in mind as "the knife." Reate's price range of ~$300 is where you are most likely to find the most economical knives that start to tic all the boxes - and you only start to see any real contenders in the Olamic price range of about $500.

The most inexpensive knife I have seen that apes the design elements of the OP's knife is the Arcform Catalyst, at ~280:

A Benchmade Crooked River gets very close, though, at ~200

Your hands are tied by the price range. Inlays, color coordination, pivot collars, etc are features that require a higher degree of precision design than is typically extant in the sub-$300 range.

You might look at the Katsu knives, as they fall within your price range and are aesthetically pleasing:

Edit: Perhaps also the Kizer Megatherium:

DLT has some really nice anodized exclusives... maybe a bit over budget, but some come in at $200 i believe.
