Help me choose a one piece fixed blade

Well, after reading this thread, and looking at the pics taken by Piter, I am also in the market for a CRK. I really like the Shadow IV, the Mountaineer II, and the MK VI. It will be my camp/wilderness knife. Any advice would be appreciated as to which one is stronger, easier to use etc. What are the pros of having a double guard over a single, other than symmetry? Also, can anyone tell me what the difference between spear and clip point are in real world uses are? Thanks...

Sorry to hijack your thread Scotch, same answers you are looking for as well I hope!

At one point I had asked the same question! Refer to the below thread:

Relative to the gaurd, it depends on your taste. The thing a signle guard does allow is one to choke up on the knife and put his thumb on the spine to allow for better blade control during cutting.

Thanks KnifeFury, I am leaning at the moment towards the MK VI. I am just looking for a little perspective from people who are more experienced with these knives than I am. Do you think it is easy to break the tip on a clip point crk, or is the tool steel so good that I should not worry too much?

Nothing wrong in surfing this wave. Beside if you read this thread you already know I have chosen. The information in the thread should pretty much answer your questions  If not e-mail me. Good Luck

The 5.5" bladed knives are my favorite size in the OPR for camping -- big enough for everything I need, yet it's a comfortable size for a day hike. The Shadow looks like it may have the strongest point, but none of them are the least bit fragile. My choice out of the bunch is the Sable IV, but you just can't go wrong with any of them.
