I'm getting married this week and the wedding rehearsal is Wednesday and I realized that I've totally forgotten about the gift i'm supposed to give to the groomsmen.

I think a pocket knife would be a good gift as opposed to a lighter or flask since it's equally as cool but a lot more handy. This seems to be the most comprehensive knife message board I could find so I thought it'd be a good place for opinions

I don't have too much money to spend since I'm currenty putting my wife to be through school and I can't get it on the internet since I'm such a slacker and I need it by Wednesday.

So what I'm asking you guys is what's the best pocketknife that one could buy at a sporting/outdoor (GI Joes or Sportsman's Warehouse) type store that retails for around $25 or so. I know the GI Joes around here carry brands like Gerber, Buck, S&W and Spyderco

I was at the mall and saw that they had some for like $5 at those little carts that sell knives/jewelry/cell phone covers but I don't want to buy something that'll just break.

Thanks for the suggestion but i think I want to get them something that's a single blade...someone on a different forum suggested a Spyderco Jester....anyone know if this is worth the dough?

A Swiss Army knife is a good choice. Target and similar stores usually carry a good selection of Victorinox, the original and best of them @ $20, more or less. V'nox is a quality brand and the sort of thing that would appeal to knifey guys and also to those who are not. The Soldier is elegant, but lacks the toothpick, tweezers and other accessories that folks expect in a Swiss Army knife. There is sure to be something that will fit your budget.

Suggestion here.

My kid Brother got married some 7 years ago , he got all of us Groomsmen Gerber multitool's with our initials engraved on them.
I have used mine more than any other tool I own and still cherish it.
Reason I'm suggesting this is , some people are'nt into knives and they may just collect dust in the sock drawer , a decent MT though , anyone would love and use.

Benchmade Benchmite II., model 10610.

Street price around $23.00. Cool little blade. I just had 7 arrive today for some holiday gift giving.

I am not sure 7 is enough for all of us here! :p

I'd say a Buck 110 or maybe a smaller model if they have them. Pretty much all department stores stock them, they are cheap, they are super tough, and they are a classic design that any man can appreciate. I'd say that's about the best you can do given your budget and time limit.

Benchmite would be a good gift. Handy and sharp. Not too big, but still functional. Whatever you decide, I would recommend a knife with stainless or aluminum handles. Makes a nice slate for engravings.

The following knives would all be really great gift ideas:

Kershaw Vapor $25
Kershaw Leek $40
Kershaw Chive $35

Buck Mayo Cutback $30

Benchmade Benchmite $25

They're all well recieved knives, all classy looking and fit a nice niche.

usually the local shops are going to be a lot more expensive, I usually see a 30% to 200% markup in my local stores. may make sense to get exactly what you want an order from a place like www.newgraham.com and pay for overnight shipping.

other option is that walmart actually has good prices on a few quality little knives, and many walmarts carry buck and kershaw.

Great idea, you could get something from spyderco's Byrd line or a BM Benchmite II for a good price and recieve it Thursday.

Great idea! Who couldn't use a pocketknife? My advice is, stick with known names and simple designs. "Made in the USA" is always a plus, and definitely go smaller rather than larger if you want your friends to actually carry/use the knife.

A couple guys mentioned Buck 110's, I love mine but would suggest a smaller version, 112 or 309. All are readily available at Wally-World, Target etc and can be had OTC for under $30 each.

Please don't buy your groomsmen $5 knives, they will curse you as a cheap SOB forever.

I agree. The leek and chive can both be worn in suit pockets (I wear my chive with suits/slacks), which they'd be wearing I imagine. Small enough that if the groomsmen aren't knife friendly, they could still feel comfortable using them.
Gateway drug for more knuts :)

If you call newgraham they might be able to get you something quick.
Good luck and congratulations! Everything changes, and everything stays exactly the same... just had my 1st year anniv. yesterday.
