Help me choose an edc

One of your best options is to simply look at the variety of EDC topics (use "search this forum" in the top right corner).

Things to keep in mind:
1. Budget: flexible up and down or fairly rigid?
2. Intended/forseeable use: light urban EDC versus overbuilt folding prybar? Modern or traditional (i.e. one-handed opening versus two-handed).
3. Priorities: similar to above but rank your wants and needs. a pure slicer that isn't fun to flick around or a "toy" so you can flip it constantly while watching the tube? How strong of a lock (if applicable)? Weight? Size? Cutting edge length? Blade geometry?

I like Opinels, Douk Douks and the K-55 Mercator for the traditional one-blade folders.

For modern try looking at the Spyderco Delica, Caly 3 or 3.5, Dragonfly, Chapparral, Sage 1, and Paramilitary 2. Kershaw has some great folders in about half your price limit. For ultralight try the Skyline or Chill.

Wow, thanks for all the responses!!! I am leaning towards the benchmade 555hg but i have to say those kizer knives are gorgeous, i may have to get one of those as well

I would have initially suggested a ZT0566 but that's very similar in design to the Cryo that you said you don't like. My second suggestion would be a Paramilitary 2. You can find one for ~$100 in the exchange and it's got most of what you're looking for (it's not assisted) and doesn't really have any of your dislikes.

You won't find a new para 2 for $100 they go for about $140 right now

I'll add a couple more Cold Steels to the list...
Code 4
American Lawman

Also if you like AO there are several Kershaws:
Piston
Blur
Knockout
Camber
Thermite
Cryo2

No doubt about this answer...it's correct. But trying to resharpen one of the s90 or S110v, you're gonna need diamonds to get it done in a decent amount of time.

S110v can be maintained with the sharpmaker. I use my msnix 2 lw frequently and the brown sharpmaker stones do a fine.
