Ok I know this type of question gets asked all the time but I would like to hear which of these knives is your favorite and why. I am thinking a knife for camp type of chores including some light shelter making and fire building. I have small fixed blades covered with a Busse Game Warden, Krein TK8, Izula, and Becker BK11. I also have an ESEE 4 and an older Ontario Rat 7. So I don't feel there is a particular gap in my collection but I really like the looks of all 3 of the above listed Beckers. I have long liked the looks of the BK2 as a great all around size and extremely stout knife. The BK9 looks like it would make a heck of a chopper though I don't have a huge need for that as I can use a hatchet and the Rat 7 to fill those roles as needed. The BK5 is just a dead sexy blade and looks like the size might be a really good all around user for me. So come on Becker Heads chime in on your favorite and some reasons why. I can't wait to read some of the input! The initial use would be a weekend camp this spring with my son where we plan to use tarp shelters in some "wilderness" area downstate from us.

I think you answered your question in your post. Go with the 5 it's the one that makes sense to you, and it's a pretty awesome blade too.

I was in your shoes last year and ended up getting all three,,,,it's an illness I tell ya:D

But having all and seeing what you have already go with the five. It's a pure pleasure to use.

Good luck and let us know what you get.

P.s. Mwtic, those are awesome green micartas you got!

IMHO, go ahead and get the BK-5. It's a sexy beast.

Speaking of beasts, don't count out getting a the BK7 down the road. Anyone who owns a RAT7 without directly comparing it to a BK7 is cheating themselves... IMHO,the BK7 kicks the Rat 7's arse as a chopper due to Ethan's handle design.

BK-2 all the way. It is my most used Becker and usually the first one I show people to get them into Beckers.

It along with my BK-11 and a saw gets all my fire prep done. Light shelter making is no problem either.

I used only the BK-2 in the August 48 hour survival challenge and never felt the need for another knife. Very awesome knife.

The BK-9 is awesome too, but in a different way. Can't comment on the BK-5 because I have never used one.

Go CARDS !!!!!!

I've never owned a 5 and you're right its down right sexy looking... for all around camp chores including some food prep and light chopping you cant go wrong with the 5.. however it is pretty much the same size as your r7 but much more sexy!!! :D

I've had the 2 and if you're on a hike its really all the knife you need, even overnight... but for the weight, myself I like a large knife and a necker, throw in a pocket knife and I'm good in the wood.............

so I say go 9....

Well, my BK9 out chops my hatchet by a good margin, so even if you have a hatchet, it might not be a bad move purely from a chopping standpoint. And like someone already mentioned, the handle design on the beckers really lets you chop well with them.

The BK2 is a beast of a knife, and will not let you down. It really is a do it all single blade. That said, I think my woods knives will be a BK17 and BK9 when the BK17 finally comes out. The BK9 will be the "bigun" for the camp chores, and the tweener will do most everything else.

The upside is that you can't really go wrong, because they are all sweet. And if you do get a BK7, make sure to do a comparison review between them :).

Good luck with whatever it is you do.

Go with a 9, I love mine and it looks like you have your smaller knives covered. Just my 2 cents.

Everyone has their favorite Becker, I love the BK2.
You can't go wrong with any of them.
Good luck.

Bk5. Can do it all, and it even chops without the added weight. Bk5 till the cows come home...

I like the 9.......I use it for everything. It seems big but it handles really well and as a chopper/big camp knife it's hard to beat.

BK9 was my first and I wouldn't change that at all. I love choppers and knew I wanted the BK9 for a long time. Like has been said, seems you have the smaller blades covered.... Get the BK9!!

PS you will end up getting the rest of them at some point so don't be shy, get that 9 already!! :D :D

If you don't have a 2, you need a 2. And a 5. And a 9...

The 9 seems to be the hole in your lineup, but these 3 are all very different animals.

I have a BK2, and it is a great all around chopper and camp knife, but if I were you I would get the BK9 just to wreak some havok. It is one hell of a blade.

Once you get one, you will get them all, so in the end, i guess it doesn't really matter. :p
