Help me choose BK2. BK5. or BK9

Help me choose BK2. BK5. or BK9

BK2, 5 AND 9

There done! That was easy:D

Seriously though I think Nsvens89 nailed it with this:
"Go with a 9, I love mine and it looks like you have your smaller knives covered."

Now it's 4 cents,

Eli

Buy all three, you will anyway. As soon as you get the first you will be thinking about the other two and how you must have them too. Then you will want the others, Then the new ones. Brutes and tweeners and machaxes oh my.

Thanks for all of the input. I think I am going to rule out the 2 and go with one of the larger 2 choices. The reason I did not include the 7 was that it did not seem to get me anything over the bk9. Now I'm wondering if a 9 and the tweeter version of the bk5 would not be the combo that suits my needs best. Thanks for the discussion and points to consider. Since my son is itching to get out and chop some stuff up the 9 may end up the winner.

Yep, if you want to chop some things the BK9 is your guy.

BK9 and the short trail point? Sounds like a good combo to me - slicer and chopper.

Thanks to all for the replies. I thought I would update to let you all know that I just ordered the BK9. Since the real reason for ordering was that my son wants to get out and hack up some stuff on a rustic camp out I thought the 9 fit the bill the best for that job. I am going to present him with the BK9 along with a cold steel Kukri Machete for his 15th birthday. He loves the look of Kukri style knives and I thought it would be a great chance for him to see the differences between the two in chopping performance. I will of course reserve the right to use the Becker whenever I want to ;) Thanks again for the input.

CHOP OFF!!!

Sorry, thats all I could see when I was reading your last post.

Good news man, I'm sure you'll both have a blast with the new toys :).

Better yet get some work out of it. Let him use it at the camp out then tell him if he mows the laws for the summer its his. Bet you will have the most frequently mowed lawn on the block haha.

Since I'm buying the BK9 for him I can easily justify another future purchase for me ....... perhaps the BK5. See how that works????

hi ...

although i have the bk-2 with which i'm more than happy , i think, according to what you've written, that the bk-5 will cover you all the way ... still bk-9 it is ...

have fun with it ;)

I wanted to post one more update and a thanks for the suggestions and opinions on this thread. This is my son after opening the BK9 for his Birthday. He was thrilled with it more so than I had expected. I purchased the BK9 and a Cold steel Kukri Machete because he likes the Kukri style blades. I suspected the Kukri would be the favorite but he loves the BK9 and I don't think I'm going to get the opportunities to borrow it that I had hoped. I am glad that he has the ability to discern the quality built knife between the two and get past the style of knife as the deciding factor. Here is a pic of him with his new BK9 right after opening it.
