Hello, All. I was rearranging my small shop area. Found a pukka knife blade, wood block and some other tools, that I had purchased about 10 years ago. So I have been looking around for a simple knife project to get my feet wet. Been looking at various knife supply sites, but damn if I can't make up my mind. I think a fixed blade, with a sheath, is what I want. Depending on how I do, maybe make another full tang fixed blade, before I tackle that pukka.
Been on YT for the past few weeks, so I more or less have it figured out on how to do it.
Tools: I have a bench top drill press. Old 1/3 hp grinder. Just put on two arbor extensions, which were some of the stuff I ordered back then. I think I'll use that for polishing. Various rasps, files, pull saw, coping saw...etc.
What kind of polishing wheels/compound should I get? Felt, muslim, sisal?
Handle scales...I kind of dig that camo kirite that Jantz has. Or some semi fancy wood.
So what do you think? Help a newbie out. Find me a blade.
Bio: Male, age 65. Built RC model airplanes, refinished kitchen cabinets. Used to tune up my old Chevy P/U,changed the oil, and replaced alternators, belts, bulbs. Been teaching my self bass guitar, and accoustic, the last 3 years.
This should be fun.
Happy New Year
Chris
