Help me choose my first spydey.

if you like smaller knifes! I always found the native 5 a grate little lock back, I carried a sage 2 as well, you couldn't go bad with ether id say.

My first was an Endura in zdp189. It’s performed so well I now rarely buy a folder unless it’s made by Spyderco. I now own several Spyderco and just purchased four more in the last two days. A Yojumbo, an Aqua Salt in black with serrated edge and a Clipit that comes in H1 and also a Lady Bug hawbill in H1. These knives are all in the mail, and I’ll post pics when I get them. Coming from three different locations. The Endura is a real nice EDC and has a pretty big blade. C566B13A-3C0A-4752-918F-C1F1C432203E.jpeg

Hello,
I am new here but have the Manix and dragonfly, check Sage 5, too many options and different lock types ,my advise look in Amazon for sellers that offer free returns and check them in person.

Some of the more renowned knife dealers will inspect them for you too, I'd rather support them than some rando seller on amazon (even though Amazon does have no questions return policies, I think most if not all would also be similarly accommodating if you had an issue)

native 5 is a good rugged knife on the smaller side....chaparral is small thin and super slicey....the manix 2 will be too big althou the lw is incredibly light and well balanced for the size...the endura is small in pocket and light but its a good size knife...the delica thou is a good smaller knife with a whole lot of steel options...the para 3 lw is a excellent option

Look at the Watu. Compression lock, carbon fiber, it’s pretty thin, wire clip, super slicy CPM20cv blade.

I consider the PM3 a near perfect little knife.
The compression lock makes "one-hand closing" very easy.
And the jimping both front and back makes for a very secure grip, where your index finger fits nice and close to the edge.

Agree with @Hackenslash that Endura and Manix 2 will feel massive in the OP's pocket and they are (one is long and the other is tall). Funny that I never owned the other two in the list but they'd be what I recommend to the OP.

Toss up between the Native 5 or Manix 2, both great options imo — the latter does take up a bit of real estate on the pocket though.

If you like to figit, Manix. If you don't Endura. If you don't mind my going off the list, PM2. It carries like it's smaller than a Manix, in my opinion. Endura is very nice, though, if you don't care to experience the joys of a compression lock.

off your list i would say Chapparal. But I agree with above, Paramilitary 2. I carry one often and it carries just fine in the pocket.

Don't mean to sound ungrateful but my short list has now gotten longer and I feel I am further away from a decision.

Life is hard.
That's not a terrible problem to have lol. Realistically, only you can determine what you want most. They're all great knives, and I'm sure whatever you pick won't be the only one you'll eventually get.

My vote would go to the Endura. I have owned all of your potential choices except the Chap (as well as many, many other Spydercos).

I feel that the Endura is one of those key "reference point" knife models. It has been made for decades and has been refined over the years with the fourth generation (I think) being the current model. It is very durable with FRN and steel liners and comes in a numerous colours and flavours (can't wait for the K390 one!). They have been around forever and for good reason. I have owned the same Endura for about ten years and it continues to serve me well.

I think that it carries very well for its size too. Spyderco is probably my favourite brand but one thing I don't love about many of them is how tall they are because of the need to include a Spyderhole in the blade. To me, the Manix and Native felt quite big in the pocket relative to their respective blade lengths.

Honestly, any of those models would be a good choice but the Endura seems like a nice combination of price and features to me.

I would recommend the para 2 even though it’s not one of the ones on the list. If not that I would pick para 3. From the list manix 2 is a great knife but seems to carry a bit larger than the pm2.

Really, you can't go wrong with any of these:
