Yeah, you're right. Schempp is not a slouch, he's one of the best. I guess it's a matter of opinion about who makes a better hard use folder design.
But when I think "hard use" folder, I think of Hinderer/ZT before I think of Schempp/Spyderco.

"Life is too short to carry an ugly knife, and too ugly to carry a short knife." ZT0560 wins IMHO.

I think Schempp knives are elegant, tough and very comfortable to use. That being said, I agree. I think of Hinderers before Schempp if the designation is "hard use".

Tuff just has kind of "love it or hate it" looking. Even though its look much better in real life than in the picture.

As previously stated, this is a hard one because they are different,
one fires out the blade with it's smooth action and the other is more
deliberate in nature. One you slice with, the other you can beat to
hell with- the spine on that tuff is insane. One's a looker
right off the bat and the other grows on you. One's form factor is
conventional and the other is quite unique.

Since you already have a ZT with a stainless steel, change it up and
get 3V tuff. The ZT 0560 will be there waiting for you anyways.

All Great Points but i voted for the ZT 0560....the blade has alot longer cutting edge and the opening and closing of the knife is silky smooth. the steel to me are both great. i see a win win situation whichever you pick.

Spyderco Tuffs are owners of "ugly-ass-knife" awards.
DEFINITELY a ZT 560.
And I don't even own one. I just really hate the looks of Tuffs.

Y'all are picking curtains or knives? ;)

Indeed.

Well, I got the Tuff instead, and had to sell 2 knives to do so.
Based on my purchase, and the fact I had to engage in a detested activity to do so (the selling of knives ), I obviously say the Tuff wins my recommendation.

Of course, I also HATE flippers, so that is a factor.

@jill jackson, it's nice to have both :D

I think the Tuff is very good looking (minus the dimples). I'd like to pick one up someday.

If there were no dimples, or the groove on the blade of the Tuff, I would change my feelings alot.
I guess I don't HATE them, but they definitely aren't as cool to me as a ZT....
I would take either if I could, but my vote hasn't changed. :D

I have the 561. It's a practical everyday knife for me but I found the blade somewhat dull and difficult to put a nice edge on. It's also very light and feels refined. I handled the Tuff for 5 minutes and knew it was something I had to have. The heft of the knife, the satin finish of the blade, and the ergonomics... oh yeah, and the spyderco scary sharp edge. I guess it came down to this: the ZT 560/561 moved me logically, but the Spyderco Tuff moved me emotionally.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. I love both of these knives. However, the "deal" I received at my local knife shop was better on the ZT 560. I bought a zt 301 that is 0051 serial. I saved and figured I'd get a user ZT. I bought the zt 560 and will putting on the silicon cloth, I looked at the serial #0011. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
