Help me choose the only knife I will ever own!!

Between those 2 knives only, I'd probably still get the B/M 943 although I've never owned one.

Personally, if I had to stay under $150, I'd probably keep my B/M 913 D2. However if you're thinking of only 1 knife for a long time, B/M lovers around here sure sing the praises of the B/M 710. It's too big for my tastes, but it is nice. I have a problem with the axis lock (Sometimes my fat hands get in the way of one of the locks), but I really liked my 720 & the HK 14210 or the slightly larger 14205 sure are nice, too. I think I could live with one of the "nicer" Benchmade axis lock knives if I had to (By nicer, I mean NOT the Griptilian).

Of course, some members made a good point about the lower cost of the Native. I hope you were thinking of the newer Native with VG-10, not the one with S30V. Nothing wrong with the steel, but I just don't care for the FRN handled Spydercos w/o a SS liner. They're just not very smooth on opening/closing.

Good luck.

Ya gotta think out of the box. Get yourself a Kershaw Cyclone. I have 4 of 'em, so I guess ya could say that it's my favorite folder...At any price.:D.

I agree, for the money, a Kershaw Cyclone (Reg or mini) are nice. But if you're willing to spend up to $150, I'd check around & get a ZT (0200 or 0400), Kershaw Boa, or maybe a spec/speed Bump.

Man, you know there's a s#@t load of nice knives under $150. I think one poster said it right, get the Native II ($40 from Wally World), & save rest for getting another knife (Or more) that you like down the road.

I recently bought my "for-life" folder. A Small Sebenza. They may be expensive, some may say overpriced, but they will last, and the warranty and service is excellent. I also have a Mini-Grip, which I like very much, but certainly don't expect it to be serviceable in 50+ years of normal use. I may be wrong, but hey, what else am I going to spend my money on, an IPOD ? :)

My Benchmade 710 will be 8 years old in a few months, still going strong, smoother action than the day I bought it. It's been my primary EDC for the past 7+ years.

Hard to think of something that hasn't already been suggested. A Benchmade 707 would be nice.

If a larger folder would be ok, the Benchmade 710 would be a really nice way to go. I love my 710.
When clipped to my pocket it doesn't take up much room.

I like my BM 943. It's slim, doesn't get in the way. Performs well on lots of the things I need
to cut.

The Ritter Grips look good.

Yea Rat and Mr Pooper Who asked you anyway? Anybody ever tell ya your avatar looks like Weird Al? My Paraframe is awesome, it holds an edge well, and everything! it's cleaned several small furry woodland creatures and they we're tasty too! geeesh insultin a man's pocket knife like that, HOW RUDE!, ya'll probably wear pink ruffly panties and prance around dreamin of lickin marshmallow cream and peanut butter off Barbara Bushes naked body. . . At least I aint a knife snob...like somepeople whom i wont mention

I dont know, there are so many great knives out there. I personally will have to go with Glockman99 on Kershaw. I dont have alot of money but to me, my Kershaw Storm II is a great knife. I love anything that is kershaw or Buck. I just cant go with Gerber anymore. Thats is just my opinion, but then again if you can afford it. Get the Benchmade, i imagine there great knives. Im just a dedicated kershaw fan.

Between your 2 choices I would suggest the Native.

Mainly because with the money left over from your $150 you could turn around and get a Victorinox Farmer, Mora 2000, and a Fiskars 14" Hatchet.

Then you would be relatively set.

HAHAHAHA :D Mr.Pooper. Thats helarious! :D Iv been called a lot of names on the internet but none of them as funny as "Mr.Pooper". "Super Trooper" is a close runner up though. :D

The Paraframe is FAR from the worst knife in world, but its also FAR from the best knife at Walmart. Correct me if im wrong, but i do believe that Wally world sells Kershaw and Boker Products now. you can pick up a Kershaw Scallion there for under $30 and it will have a better heat treat, better fit and finish, and assisted opening. the Paraframe really cant compete with that.

Im not a knife snob. i own and use many inexpensive knives. The Paraframe simply isnt the best knife in its class, let alone the best knife that Walmart stocks. That doesnt begin to get into premium quality knives like Benchmade and Spyderco.

If the OP wanted a cheap disposable knife that can get the job done then the Gerber paraframe would be a great choice. BUT he asked for a good quality knife that will last him his entire life. An S30V or ZDP Leek, or any one of a dozen Benchmade or Spyderco knives would be a much better option.

Buck 110. I know, it's an older design, and it's not either of the two that you had settled on, but it's a good, sturdy design, and for the $150. limit you have, you could get a couple (have a spare) and have plenty left over for other necessities in life. (One would be good beer . . . ;))

I like all these newer designs, but I still like my 110 the best.

thx -cpr

Of your two choices, I'd take the Benchmade (I already like the 940).

If I were going to make one last choice, it would be the ZDP-189 Endura or the upcoming Stretch II (also in ZDP-189).
I've been carrying the Spyderco Military for a month now and really like it, though I don't expect the liner lock to last the rest of my life.

"Morientes",
Dude, you're right about not startin' a knife collection!
It takes a whole lot of money to keep up with an addiction.
But then again, if you happen to set your sights lower with a specific blade pattern in mind; you could actually start a collection worth every dime.
Like penny knives...
But hey! I got you figured for one who's more into owning (and usin') a fad EDC than anything; so welcome to the club anyways.
Between the two choices you have - "Benchmade 943 or Spyderco Native",
It's time you go Native!
