I think the Commander with the serrated edge is the best all around general purpose knife out there. That being said. I EDC a Benchmade/Emerson 970. The tanto is a good design so a 7B is a good option also.

it just depends on what ya like, for instance i am not overly fond of commanders, i dont like the grind, and i hate serrated edges on EKI's, lol, so its like chocolate and vanilla, its what ya like, and also what ya are gonna use it for.

i do like some spydercos with serrated edges (ie the police and civilian, to me, just dont look right with a PE) but in general i dont care for them and really dont like combo edges, especially on EKI's,

i'm also not real big on mod'ing EKI's, i would rather just choke up the $$ for a custom than mod 2 or 3 std productions, but what do i know? i do know i have seen some really nice mod'ed EKI's, and have thought about modding a P-tac, but by the time i do the frame lock, do some ano, do a satin finish, etc the price is really getting up there,

but hey, some folks do like 'em, in fact i am in the minority on commanders, its probably the most popular knife in the line,

If you prefer them on the smaller side, I would def. consider the SOCFK-A.

Otherwise what about a Horseman? They are now available in stonewash.
