Help me decide between...

Or even potentially losing it. I look at my Pacific Salt the same way. It is a pure user and I probably love it more than any of my other Spydercos for that very reason. But if I drop it in the ocean tomorrow, I'll just go buy another for $70...and thats part of the reason I use it and love it so much, if that makes sense.

Makes total sense! You get a lot of knife for the price with the endura. I feel like it's a scaled up delica and i have a couple delicas that are around 15 years old and still going strong. In fact, i lost my first one, bought another to replace it, then found the lost one. My original was the first delica with the molded clip and fully serrated blade and it just did a two week tour in my pocket during a motorcycle training and got a WICKED workout ripping zip ties off bikes.

Same here. My favorite thing about Spyderco's serrations is how well they'll grab & cut things like zip-ties, polymer twine, etc. I've had a fully serrated Endura 4 that I have yet to resharpen - factory edge still going strong after 5+ years.

What about a Manix 2 XL? They're about the same size as a Military, but with a leaf shaped blade and a liner lock. Best of both worlds!

Manix XL doesn't really appeal to me. Too chunky... Maybe?? I look at knives in three dimensions... Length, width and height. Height being the distance between the handle scale and the blade spine in the closed position (not sure if that makes sense). Manix is too HIGH for me. I prefer the sleeker profile of an endura or military.

So for the short term i've decided on the endura. Purchased one second hand from a fellow BF member at a reasonable price. I have a B-day coming up so i may put the bug in my wife's ear for a military or a police. Thanks for all the input, i love the exchange of ideas and opinions here on BF.

Yup, pretty much exactly how I feel. The Manix is a nice knife but its a bit of a pocket hog. As far getting the most knife for the smallest size in pocket, the Millie wins...to the point that it seems to defy physics. I think you made the right call for your intended use though. Enjoy!

My recommendation would be the Police model for the fact that it may be a little slimmer and carry better. However it could weigh a bit more depending on the material. One knife not mentioned which could serve your purpose is the Stretch. It is about in the larger folder category and has an amazingly useful blade. At first the funky kind of bird look discouraged me from trying this knife but it carries as well as an Endura and feels amazingly ergonomic in hand. Also there are many options and blade steels to enjoy as well.

Military, hands down. S30V over VG10, G10 over Frn, I like the liner lock better than lock back. But the only think I like better about the endure.. You guessed it. Pocket clip position

For your particular situation OP , I'd lean toward the Endura for the same reasons Surfingringo has mentioned.

But the knife I like the best overall out of the ones you listed is definitely the Military. The titanium frame lock version is especially awesome !
