Hi all,

I am trying to decide which one to purchase, Blur or Avalanche.

I am looking for a slimmer handle than the Blackout but a little bigger than my
Leek.

Thanks for any advice

I would go with th blur. I think the other one has the plastic handles if I remember? But anyways, the blur is a great knife if you get the one with the new steel. I have one but the AO broke, so I am getting another one from Kershaw. All I asked for was the AO mech. and they are sending me a new knife! what service is that!

Thanks,

What's the "new steel" you mentioned?

It’s the 13C26, they used to be made with 440A. Either steel performs well enough. Odds are your leek is 440A to give you an idea or something to compare it to.

I have a Blur myself and love it. Great size, and like you want, it’s real slim for its overall size.

Hope this helps.

The Avalanche has an S30V black blade and the scales are G-10 with full stainless liners. The handle is not as deep as a Blur and is roughly the size of a Blackout.

I've had a couple of Blurs and got rid of them. The handle material was tough on pants pockets. I have an older S60V Avalanche, it's a keeper.

I prefer both the blade shape and handle material of the avalanche.... The blur is a very rigid knife though...

I really like my current EDC, the 1670TBLKST Tanto-point Tactical Blur, even if it is 440A. The abrasive Trac-tec handle inserts took a little getting used to, but now I like the extra grip they provide. The knife as a whole is holding up well to fairly heavy use, although some "clicky" noise is starting to come from what appears to be the portiion of the Speed-Safe mechanism that operates in the pivot area. However, it still snaps open solidly with no effort.

I haven't tried an Avalanche, but they look good.

You'd do well with either...or both?

Gotta say the Avalanche as I think it is a real underrated knife in the Kershaw lineup.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm leaning towards the Blur...like the blade shape a little better.

Where is the best place price wise to order?

New graham knives,knifeworks.com,1sks.com, gpknives.com, all very good retailers..

Just check around New Graham, TheKershawStore.com........ depending on what you are looking for, the Wally World even has one. I'd recommend just searching for it on the internet and see what you come up with. You really should check out all the variants and see which one suits you best.

The best place to buy a blur is a place that has a 1670BRNSG2 Blur. The SG-2 blade is as good as it gets. Check that bay place they have them for $75 "Buy Now". There are also some good deals on the older red handled ones with 440A. Do a www.foogle.com search. Around $44 from several sites. There are also ones with S30V blade 1670S30V model, they run about $70.

I want a Blurvalanche with a composite blade. Do they make that? :p

I would go for the blue in S30V if it's in your budget.
